Cambridge has been great. The Code people at Anglia Ruskin where receptive and interested in what we do and a few of their students/programmers showed up at the demonstation last night at the St. John’s Innovation Centre last night. It’s really great to share ideas with a new audience. We’re off this morning to Stockholm.
On to Stockholm

October 20th, 2010Hello all. Eric here. Julie, James, Adrian and I are currently in Cambridge. Had a meeting with members of CoDE (Cultures of the Digital Economy) and got a great studio tour. Here are some pics that I have taken. A productive day for everyone. Tomorrow we will be setting up venue at St. John’s Innovation […]

Martin Messier and his work for dance company O Vertigo.
July 19th, 2010It is a bit of challenge to contain my interest in the work of Martin Messier into a single blog post. He has an amazing list of dynamic and exciting projects, and I’m sure you will hear more about him blog posts to come. For now I am going to focus on some recent work he did with O Vertigo, a dance company in Montréal, for their new show Onde de choc.
The Subtle Technologies Festival and the Ghettoblast Sound System
July 6th, 2010This post comes from the Ghetto Blast Sound System crew members Kerry Campbell and Michael Caffrey. Kerry and Michael also make up the core of our GRL Ottawa group. Ghetto Blast has developed a mobile off-the-grid sound system that they use for free parties in the woods and urban sound interventions. In June we sent Ghetto Blast down to Subtle Technologies, a conference and festival centered on the cross section of art and technology, as the theme for this years edition was sustainability.
Mutek at 210 frames per second
June 12th, 2010My visit to this year’s edition of Mutek was not as Artengine’s AD, but as a band member of Ottawa group If Then Do. It was great to see the festival from that angle, and they do a great job at taking care of the details for artists. Kudos to the Mutek team! (…and as I […]
Blogging at the speed of dial up
May 9th, 2010Elektra is over, and I’m left cold. Not just because it snowed on the last day of the festival, (leaving me no choice but to wear every single article of clothing I had brought with me to MTL at once,) but because last night’s finale, sadly, fell short of what I was hoping for. We were […]
Three disparate Elektra fragments, early Saturday morning.
May 8th, 20101.Edwin van der Heide’s Laser Sound Performance is being presented nightly here at Usine C. Smoky beams of radiant colour slice through the open industrial space. Violent or spectacular – you be the judge when it is presented in Ottawa Monday as part of House of Orange at the Mercury Lounge. 2.If you don’t already […]
elektra.001 a beginning
May 8th, 2010Elektra is in full swing. I’ve been overwhelmed. Must start small and work into the core of what has been presented here. Zimoun‘s elegant installation at Push Galerie has been on my mind since seeing it on Wednesday. Here, a series of 216 dc motors – each strung with a strand of 1.0m wire – […]
Vancouver in Stereo – Channel One
November 25th, 2009Interactive Futures is a rad little festival/symposium in Vancouver. It’s theme this year was stereo. The dominant representation in that theme was stereoscopic video (3D glasses kind of stuff), but the symposium expanded the concept through into more intellectual considerations on the idea of stereo in creative technological practice. Day one IF had heavy representation […]
