My trip to Mutek and Artengine residency in June, Part 2 – Ross Birdwise

August 6th, 2010

Part 2: Artengine Residency, family and friends, Infinite Nothing at Bird Island, if then do live @ Club Saw… My last post on this blog discussed my trip to Montreal to play the Mutek festival with my electronic music group if then do, with Ryan Stec (Artengine’s artistic director) doing visuals.  This trip to Mutek […]

My trip to Mutek and Artengine residency in June, Part 1 – Ross Birdwise

July 22nd, 2010

This June I flew in to Ottawa from Vancouver to visit friends and family and to perform at the Mutek festival in Montreal. I was performing with the largely Ottawa-Gatineau based electronic music group if then do, of which I am a founding member (I used to live in Ottawa). Ryan Stec, Artengine’s artistic director, had recently collaborated with if then do in the past using his skills as a VJ and video artist to develop live A/V performances with the group. For this year’s Mutek, Ryan also did live visuals, in some cases using our real-time, partially improvised audio feeds to modulate the video image he had created. Ryan also invited me to do an Artengine Residency at the M70 lab while were at Mutek, but I will save that story for my next post…

June 12th, 2010

Montréal. MUTEK. ATOM

June 7th, 2009

MUTEK.

IF THEN DO OFFICE PARTY

June 1st, 2007

Mutek and Radio-Canada collaborated to present artists from across the country during three days of the festival. Yesterday evening Ottawa-Gatineau soundscape duo If Then Do broadcast their Mutek debut from the Artengine space at Arts Court as a part of this concert concept. It was a fantastic intimate show and the first artists we have […]
