Artengine is presenting the Ottawa premiere of Daft Punk’s newest feature film project, Electroma, as a fundraiser to kick off the 2008 year. The film is the story of two robots searching for their humanity, so here we are an electronic arts center presenting this live action 35mm film tongue firmly planted in cheek.
But don’t get me wrong! ELECTROMA is beautiful. It’s a lush trip through an imaginary Californian landscape populated by obviously metaphorical robots, and seen through an ultra-wide screen viewfinder. It lands itself somewhere between nostalgic homages to Stanley Kubrick; Mathew Barney light and the best music video you have never seen on the big screen, so you may not find your humanity but you will enjoy the experience.
Plus we might sell beer at the movie…
