[Lab] what kind of bearings for an A-Axis?

I got a small chuck that I believe is suitable for an A-Axis on a CNC
machine.

http://mambohead.com/2011/03/3-axis-nema-23/

It has a 1/2-20 thread at the back. So I figure I can complete the A-Axis
with

-1/2 inch shaft with an inch of thread at one end.
-two bearings
-two pulleys and a belt
-one stepper
-some aluminum cut out to hold everything in place and to bolt down to bed

Obviously I need a bearing that can withstand thrust? Or do I? Does anybody
have any suggestions what bearings I should use?
