SEASON 1: EPISODE 1

Debuting the live version of “Cowbell” from his much anticipated album Lo Fi Glory with Dusty Loops, the Brampton MC shows us why CBC has named him one of the Top 10 South Asian Artists you need to hear.

The episode ends with “Speak Now,” a cathartic release for Noyz. Sometimes it’s the words that we don’t say that we end up regretting the most.

0:09

and this is noise than your watching

0:12

Matt when you’re listening to an emcee

0:17

it’s kind of like you’re engaging in a

0:18

conversation with them hip-hop as an art

0:20

form it spoke the same language as us

0:22

it’s very natural I don’t have to you

0:27

know translate what I’m thinking through

0:30

an instrument I think the point in my

0:32

life when I really started getting

0:34

involved in hip-hop and really started

0:35

to fall in love with it was in

0:38

elementary school so from a pretty early

0:39

age the art was very raw and very real

0:43

[Music]

0:51

my break ready

2:09

[Music]

2:26

switch it up on him just a little bit

2:28

they were given TJ’s credentials and his

2:30

I guess dexterity with the guitar to

2:33

adapt to different styles I wanted to

2:35

I felt I felt like that song would be a

2:37

good fit given his given his strengths

2:43

yo yo yo I’m staring out the window

2:47

where’s the Northern Lights never

2:48

thought that he would take us to where

2:50

we boarded flight the board in between

2:52

bicker with sleeping ashore tonight and

2:54

for the team with us we had to win or to

2:57

fight so the light my pillars my

2:58

passport

2:59

travel with chance for shot right on my

3:01

launch pad imagining blast-off they

3:03

calling me conscious I said you’re more

3:05

finding comfort in the mental with the

3:07

pencil watching the closet monsters and

3:09

move my first fancy class to pass the

3:12

time that in quoting me in textbooks my

3:14

thought is asinine

3:15

but if you do never smoke much never got

3:17

it no son but still loved to run through

3:19

jindal for sleeping pros cut the chef’s

3:21

go to Martin rose from the Sonia

3:24

withered soul being a lawyer but we

3:25

never knew that true that I seek the

3:27

person beneath the surface to meet the

3:29

circumstances that’s ready missus be

3:31

converse to freedom purposes a lot of

3:43

people tell me that for an introvert I’m

3:46

pretty extroverted I mean in everyday

3:49

life I am very much an introvert but

3:51

there are certain elements and

3:53

environments that really bring out more

3:56

energy or bring out more of a

3:58

willingness to want to engage and there

4:02

was one song in particular where even

4:05

before the mat program came up that I

4:06

knew I wanted to shoot it with Sarah

4:08

because of how drum heavy it is and with

4:11

that song we just really wanted to take

4:12

it back to the essence of hip-hop just a

4:15

drum break and an MC and we’re blessed

4:18

enough to have TJ on guitar to add his

4:21

take on it as well but the core of that

4:23

is the vocal and the drum

4:28

[Music]

4:55

[Music]

5:15

like the clinker your body knows I love

5:59

you angel don’t get it where you fit in

6:03

but I want to say you’re thinking

6:05

outside the box Tony the only time that

6:07

I’ve been

6:09

just throw package at this old plastics

6:12

unique like old bastard no men Rob calls

6:15

it don’t check inside said specific you

6:17

bring in the toe tags I first connected

6:46

with Sarah is actually at I’m one

6:49

started the event earlier this year when

6:51

it was just announced that they received

6:53

the Canada 150 funding and I saw Sarah

6:55

playing and I was just totally blown

6:57

away by how amazing she was and just how

7:00

much passion she brought to to her to

7:03

her instrument the third song that we

7:05

did was entitled speak now sometimes

7:07

telling someone you care can be

7:08

difficult sometimes telling someone that

7:10

they’re messing up can be difficult and

7:12

sometimes when someone is no longer here

7:14

and they passed away you feel like

7:16

you’ve kind of lost that chance to tell

7:18

them what they meant to you but you know

7:20

through music and through writing

7:21

there’s always that opportunity to say

7:23

what you’ve always wanted to say and get

7:25

that out check yep gain the world and

7:30

lose your soul try to see what the

7:32

future holds but looking back to check

7:34

if the sutures close knew the road that

7:36

I walk is off in the lonely one younger

7:37

feeling awkward in solitude over Seoul

7:39

becomes a lifeline and more essential as

7:42

I grow with age find a piece in the

7:44

sinus deeper below the day’s me a magic

7:46

would wanna keep up the flow to raise

7:48

hell when we blow the stage you know the

7:50

praise is all coming from heart summing

7:52

the sparks and a fire you’re planning

7:53

pilots call you my brother above the art

7:55

live parallels as well we both raising

7:58

nieces and both found Queens somebody

8:00

mama can meet with no hide when I met my

8:02

weakest I showed it outside for the

8:04

hardships no man I have shoulders that

8:05

wide told it that’s why it’s known but

8:07

now I gotta say it that it’s because of

8:09

y’all I found my way in

8:11

what I should have said the words they

8:13

deserved to hear and for the times when

8:17

the feeling was more than what we

8:18

willing to share but this is for the

8:22

time now we given find that it’s never

8:24

too long before the giving is gone and

8:26

so I got a speed now speak now say the

8:29

words give them life they deserve to

8:31

hear it so live it right bit my tongue a

8:32

thousand times didn’t know how to find

8:34

the words to let you know that you were

8:36

out of line down the line that’s all my

8:38

sister leave with the kids in the bags

8:39

pack but you collapsed up in the crib

8:41

too drunk in the Klan’s bag loved you

8:43

like an older brother so she never blow

8:45

your cover never spoken up your other

8:46

side hope he won’t discover so it was

8:48

tougher cuz she suffered alone kept

8:50

appearances appearances but this was in

8:52

a home

8:52

I played the mother and the father

8:54

figure hard to picture how we’ve never

8:56

heard the sound is he trying to the dark

8:57

it’s liquor she said she needs a partner

8:59

with us felt safe in the storm and made

9:01

it the norm crazy went had an organ

9:03

different and I know you’re hurting

9:04

cause nobody’s walking with you but you

9:06

talk is if only you could be thought the

9:08

victor and there’s no winners so either

9:10

rebuild to let it go but no release to

9:13

prepare for the times when I should have

9:14

said the words they deserve to hear and

9:18

for the times when the filler was more

9:20

than what we willing to share but this

9:23

is for the time that we give him find

9:25

that it’s never too long until we’re

9:27

giving is gone and so I gotta speak now

9:29

speak now say the words give them life

9:32

they deserve to hear it so let me write

9:33

I cry with my grandmom past the ash

9:36

gathered last chatted about a childhood

9:38

and laugh and

9:39

to see your weekend on the hospital bed

9:41

and those are moments that I cherish

9:42

given Silas instead cuz I really got to

9:45

know we’re just talking combing their

9:46

hair she knew that death is called a no

9:48

stalling cold with a prayer but never

9:50

dream she’s leaving summer so my

9:52

grandfather wheezing he was a fall

9:53

asleep in the deepest slumber eight

9:55

months later but shed no tears that dog

9:57

fears the story that I read so clear

9:59

it’s just the universe at work didn’t

10:02

understand it feeling disenchanted but

10:03

had to shift to a different vantage his

10:05

life is made a give and take in the play

10:07

your high and low working rest birth to

10:09

death Thurman is your time to go so for

10:11

every Milly minute that they gave us we

10:13

better for having their hands to raisers

10:14

for the times when I should have said

10:16

the words they deserve to hear and for

10:20

the times when the villain was more than

10:22

what we willing to share this is for the

10:25

time that we give her find that it’s

10:27

never too long until the giving is gone

10:29

and so I gotta speak now speak now say

10:32

the words give them life they deserve

10:34

the hippies on living brain they deserve

10:39

to hear it so live it right they deserve

10:44

to hear us to live it right

10:47

say the words give them life say the

10:53

words give them life they deserve to

10:55

hear it so live it write a song at the

11:04

end of it kind of really comes to a

11:06

peace with the situation I felt by

11:09

writing that song and kind of putting my

11:11

all these emotions and thoughts into

11:13

words and really clarifying everything

11:17

that’s going on inside was definitely a

11:19

huge part within the healing process

11:22

thank you so much for watching I hope

11:24

you enjoyed the music be sure to check

11:26

out all the other artists that took part

11:28
