>> Yash: Hey guys this is Yash Koppala

0:18

and I’m from Reign Yash Dance Academy and you’re watching MAD!

0:23

[Transition Music]

0:29

I’m basically from um south part
of India, Hyderabad.

0:33

I was born and brought up in Hyderabad

0:34

and I’ve been here
in Canada since last five years.

0:38

Brampton is

0:39

the place where you have more of Indian community.

0:42

Not only just Indian community that that’s place

0:45

is more of like…it looks like a Bollywood.

0:48

Like you know you’re seeing more of like your home country.

0:50

You have people everyone love to

0:53

you know,
enjoy the Bhangra music, Bollywood music.

0:56

So even if I see a

0:58

people from different culture they still enjoy our Indian culture music.

1:02

You know it’s a competition.

1:03

Why? I’ll tell you there are a lot of other
organizations here

1:06

who’s been established more than seven-ten years.

1:09

I want to stand out myself.

1:10

I know there are brilliant groups here in Brampton, in GTA,

1:15

but the thing is like what you give from
your best as a team

1:19

so that’s what I majorly focus.

1:21

So I did my best part from the time I’ve started

1:25

and you know sometime, definitely, like uh when

1:28

we are not well recognized uh people definitely won’t call you.

1:33

I think three years back I got this opportunity

1:36

where I have to be a partake in one of the biggest event in GTA

1:41

that’s when I more…

1:42

you know the company got recognized.

1:44

So then on we never left any any show.

1:48

Like let’s say we got a small opportunity, we never said no.

1:50

We’re gonna do it.

1:51

Without struggle there’s no success.

1:53

So always have to

1:55

never say no to any of the opportunity that knocks on your door.

2:40

>> Yash: Starting days we had a lot of difficulties.

2:42

How to get into the market?

2:44

What we try to show, what do they like?

2:47

This is all major questions we usually had it and we’re trying to

2:51

make sure that we fulfill what actually the audience are looking for.

2:55

>> Rennie: My name is Rennie, I’m the team manager.

2:58

I handle the operations and sort
of choreography of the team for

3:01

Reign Yash Dance.

3:02

When we started off it was a little different

3:05

compared to where we’re coming from, right.

3:08

In India the culture is totally different that’s all what we’re doing.

3:11

But then here um…when I say different

3:14

it was different as in there’s a lot of different cultures and…

3:18

but it was also very welcoming.

3:21

>> Yash: Since we have done the same Bollywood fusion style um last year,

3:25

we thought we will come up something new.

3:27

But due to this lockdown season we need to cut down the dancers

3:32

and we have to pick,

3:35

you know, pick only a few of them as per the requirements.

3:40

Some of them were a bit disappointed because I couldn’t get them on the floor

3:44

and uh
hopefully we plan to bring them next year.

3:48

>> Rennie: Also practicing virtually was a big challenge for us.

3:51

>> Yash: Yeah, yeah, yeah!

3:53

>> Rennie: And then even like having to meet one last time

3:55

people were not comfortable meeting in
this situation.

3:58

So virtually having to coordinate

4:01

and trying to understand how to practice and coming up with the new choreography

4:05

um that was really challenging.

4:08

>> Yash: Last year when we performed
at BollywoodMonster Mashup

4:10

that’s our biggest

4:12

um biggest event of 2019.

4:15

With such a good positive
uh

4:17

response we got more publicity I would think.

4:20

We are performing you know uh in front of huge crowd

4:25

we always remember this as one of the best.

4:30

[Music]

4:45

>> Yash: It is something different when you’re performing live

4:49

in front of an audience um

4:51

and performing virtual and looking up your performance after you finish.

4:56

It’s totally different.

4:58

During this pandemic time we had not meet up.

5:01

My team did not meet up since like four to five months.

5:04

We were so so happy to see and we were

5:08

so enthused
to perform with full-on energy.

5:11

All my family members who were back home

5:14

they also saw a live performance and they had great feedback from

5:19

uh from back home.

5:20

So it was really something very, very, very good experience that we had this year.

5:25

>> Rennie: It was also great to have performed there in spite of what’s going

5:29

on in the world.

5:30

Have something to entertain everybody while they’re sitting home.

5:34

Um seeing what’s happening around the world, it was a great experience.

5:37

As we performed this year um

5:39

and virtually

5:41

we can see that the viewers was more than a million views.

5:45

So we have a touch to uh many audience

5:49

and it also helped our, you know, company to

5:54

get into the market.
