‘anyWare’ is a distributed sculpture that includes three identical objects that can be located in three different locations, anywhere in the world. The ‘anyWare’ sculptures are connected to the Internet, and physically mirror each other (i.e. if a blue light lights up on one sculpture, that same blue will light up on all of the sculptures).
As the collection of technologies producing moving images multiplies at an incredible rate, Artengine wondered about the supposed ascent of video. Has one of the defining mediums of the twentieth century truly come to dominate the twenty-first or did something else happen? While the word video is unavoidable and ubiquitous has it also become hollow and meaningless? It is everywhere and so perhaps nowhere?
Yolande Laroche’s “Journal d’Enfance” was co-presented with Debasser as part of their amazing multi-sensory series Pique. This was the premiere of this intimate sonic experience mixing childhood memories and fantastical sonic experiments.
Artengine produced 7 Maker Faires over the course of a decade. We brought the first Maker Faire to Canada in 2010 and built up a community and audience around this fun celebration of making (in all it’s forms).
