Valérie’s project aims to foster interdisciplinary collaboration between conservation biology and the arts, raising awareness about the pressing need to protect biodiversity in an era of change. Through a residency with Artengine, and in collaboration with Dr. Heather Kharouba, Valérie has created an experience that fuses art and technology. This collaboration presents an exciting opportunity to amplify the important role that art can play in raising awareness about biodiversity conservation, while engaging audiences in technological innovations fostered by Artengine.

NEW SUNS is a collective worldbuilding lab that brings together an interdisciplinary group of creatives to explore radical futures through art and speculative fiction. As “realists of a larger reality” (Ursula K. LeGuin), the lab addresses contemporary challenges and envisions alternative possibilities. Participants will create work set in a shared world of their collective making, combining elements of science fiction, social theory, and creative practice to construct detailed fictional worlds that serve as thought experiments for reimagining social, technological, and ecological relationships.

The exhibition Wishes from Hereafter came to life through a residency at Artengine and will be on view from April 15 until April 30, with a reception on Thursday, April 18, from 5 to 8 pm. (Open until midnight on the night of the reception).

Storywell is an anthology series presented by Creatorland Inc., that promotes the connection between people of diverse backgrounds and artistic disciplines to shift mindsets around our shared understanding of storytelling so that we can transform ourselves, and how we interact with the world around us.
