Frog in Hand is a dance-theatre company based in Mississauga. They create works in unusual site-specific places; they perform, create and teach. In this routine, originally performed at the 2021 #BollywoodMonster Mashup presented by TD Bank Group, they perform Kalaripayattu – the oldest martial art in the world – blended with contemporary dance!

PRARTHANA प्रार्थना (“Prayer” in Hindi) is a contemporary dance piece in reverent homage to the ancient practice of Kalaripayattu (an ancient form of martial arts from South India). प्रार्थना reflects on the moment when mind and body become one, allowing us to give ourselves fully to our place of practice. The movements in this piece are inspired by the rituals a Kalaripayattu student traditionally partakes in, such as the oiling of the body, the cleaning of the Kalari (space), and paying respects to one’s Gurus.

#BollywoodMonster Mashup is the LARGEST South Asian festival in Canada. Accolades include:
