Started in 2018, #MonsterArts​ for Seniors provides the elderly with stimulating, professionally-led arts workshops in English, Hindi, Punjabi, Gujarati, Tamil and more to reduce feelings of isolation.

Seniors enjoy South Asian culture through workshops in Bollywood dance, Hindi and Tamil music, poetry, painting, and so on. This program fills gaps in cultural and language-specific services for seniors in the community. Seniors reconnect with their peers through free, interactive workshops led by experienced artists.

The workshops are available virtually and in-person at no cost to the seniors. Workshops are adapted for participants facing physical and mental frailties.

ABOUT MONSTRARTITY
Born in 2011, MonstrARTity is an award-winning, Mississauga-based, incorporated not-for-profit arts organization, amplifying South Asian arts for tens of thousands of people in diverse communities via festivals, interactive workshops for youth & seniors, artist mentorship and youth employment programs. Started in 2011, #BollywoodMonster​ Mashup is the largest South Asian festival in Canada. Started in 2020, #MonsterArts​ for Survivors provides diverse women in shelters with professionally-led South Asian art workshops as a vehicle for self-expression and building supportive networks. Started in 2017, #MonsterArtist​ Development (MAD) provides diverse artists with entrepreneurship and social media mentorship via its collective members.
