I wondered how, how
to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Pietà?
Then, basically, the answer came
to me in music.
I thought of an album conceived,
played and composed only by women.
This album, I named it Elle.
Elle in the singular
because each woman is unique.
I made my choice of repertoire simply
by going with my heart,
with my emotions, music
that really came to pick me up.
I chose, precisely, music written
by 12 exceptional women.
Each with their own style,
their unique signature and to find them, basically,
united like that in the same album, it
really becomes a diversified album.
An album rich in emotions.
Well, ultimately, you know, an album that
makes me proud to be a woman.
These 12 exceptional women, these composers
who form this album.
There are several that I can relate in music,
I am thinking of Elena Kats-Chernin,
Rachel Portman, Jocelyn Pook.
Ah, there are Quebecers too,
Julie Thériault, Ana Sokolović,
who composed, Mémoire, a piece where I
invited two Inuit singers.
On this album, there
is Hildegard von Bingen too.
Her music is a music of light,
I would say
which has crossed the centuries
from the twelfth century to today.
Then there are also discoveries for me.
Rebecca Dale, Caroline Shaw,
Finally, really exceptional music, full of
I’m going to end by telling
you happy listening!
