AGA Education - Relief Sculpture Tutorial

2020

Join Dara, Head of Education and Learning at the AGA, in the studio for a tutorial on making relief sculpture with plasticine.

Relief Sculpture is a form of sculpture that is attached to a background but projects outward away from the surface in varying degrees. Relief sculpture can be found in architecture and everyday objects like coins. A famous example of this style is the Elgin Marbles found at the British Museum, and locally in Edmonton we have “9 Figures in Motion with a Puck” by Al Henderson, “Counterpoise” by Carl Taçon and “Overflow” by Brendan McGillicuddy to name a few.
