Hafez by Pouya Hamidi | Portraits of Home | The Amadeus Choir of Greater Toronto

2022

“To me this song is about remembering where we come from, as immigrants, like myself.” — Pouya Hamidi

Amadeus Choir is proud to release the video of “Hafez,” the second video in our Portraits of Home Series.

“Hafez” is written by composer Pouya Hamidi with text by Toronto-based Persian-Canadian poet Bänoo Zan. “Hafez,” tells the story of displacement, diaspora, and migration. It features soloists Pouya Hamidi on piano and Naghmeh Farahmand on Daf alongside the Amadeus Choir, soloists William Reid, Alison Roy, and Mackenzie Warriner, conducted by Thomas Burton
A video project such as this takes an incredible amount of resources and artistic staff to bring to life.

The Amadeus Choir is proud to present this project free of charge so that everyone can hear these incredible pieces of music. If you are able, please consider making a donation to
