[Lab] laser status

Okay, so the problem is not new. Anybody else notice anything?

I suppose the next thing to do is get the manufacturer support on the line
and see if they have anything in their help database on it.

Last night when a bunch of people were all around it the firmware was
reflashed but that didn't seem to affect the problem.
