Nice gadget!
The circuit ought to work with two IR emitters wired in series in place
of the single one on the board: --->|---->|--- (Three in series might
work, but the available voltage is marginal.)
An external copy of the driver (R5, D2, D3, T1, R4) would support an
additional IR emitter or two. None of the part numbers of the
semiconductors in the driver are critical.
