[Lab] 1.75mm or 3mm for extruding

No, it allows you to use smaller-diameter nozzles, which in turn gets you the higher resolution because the filament is smaller to start with.  It's easier press cold 1.75mm thru a 0.25mm nozzle than starting from 3.0mm.

In theory you can print faster because there's less volume of material to heat on-the-fly.
