ARTISTIC HACK-O-TON!
As part of the festival "Pixels Libre 0.1", Perte de Signal and
Rustines | Lab challenge you. Artists, designers, programmers,
inventors and DIY are invited to participate in this creative activity
and creative tinkering.

The rules of the game:
You will be paired with an other participant based on your
preferences. Twinning will be announced 48 hours before the event. The
day of the event, go to a sprint between 9 and 19h creation. At 18h,
the teams present their projects at an evening performance /
presentation.

Entries must involve open source, open hardware and / or craft / DIY
design. The format is free, you can create an object, a performance,
an instrument, a tool, application, etc. The short duration of the
event forced to work on a single project, a model or prototype,
promoting learning, sharing and spontaneity.

Throughout the day of the event, the participant(s) will have access
to production areas Patches | Lab and the following equipment:
- Projector
- Sound speaker
- Mixer
- DMX Dimmer Box
- Facilities of the electronics workshop + hardware

*Coffee, donuts and pizza will be provided.

This event is organized within the framework of the first "Festival
Pixel Libre 0.1", which is intended to become an annual festival whose
programming will increase as and when the years. For this edition,
Pixel Libre occurs on the theme of the Open Process, in partnership
with Perte de Signal, HTMlles Festival organized by Studio XX and
Eastern Bloc. Pixel Libre is the first international festival of
cultures free in Montreal. It serves as a unifying space and supports
the sharing of knowledge, Empowerment and creative freedom. Cultures
free from motion "open source" started in the 80s by the Free Software
Foundation, but their roots are also in the broader movement of "do it
yourself" (DIY) and the "arts and crafts" .

"Pixel Libre" is a new member of Pixelache an informal network of
electronic art festivals, coordinated by Helsinki Pixelache and
composed of the following members: Pixelache (Helsinki, Finland)
Piksel (Bergen, Norway) Pixelvärk (Stockholm, Sweden), the Mal pixels
(Paris, France), Pixelazo (Santa Marta, Colombia) Afropixel (Dakar,
Senegal) Pikslaverk (Reykjavik, Iceland), Pixelist (Istanbul, Turkey).

HACK-O-TON ARTISTIQUE!
Dans le cadre du festival Pixel Libre 0.1, Perte de Signal et le
Rustines | Lab vous mettent au défi. Artistes, designers,
programmeurs, inventeurs et patenteux sont conviés à participer à
cette activité de création et de bidouillage créatif.

Les règles du jeu :
Vous serez jumelés en équipe avec un(e) autre participant(e) en
fonction de vos affinités. Les jumelages seront annoncés 48 heures
avant l'événement. Le jour de l'événement, rendez-vous pour un sprint
de création entre 9h et 19h. À 18h, les équipes présentent leurs
projets lors d'une soirée de performances/présentation.

Les créations doivent faire intervenir du code source ouvert, du
matériel libre et/ou de l'artisanat/design DIY. Le format est libre:
vous pouvez créer un objet, une performance, un instrument, un outil,
une application, etc. La courte durée de l'événement force à
travailler sur un projet simple, une maquette ou un prototype,
favorisant l'apprentissage, l'échange et la spontanéité.

Pendant toute la journée de l'événement, les participant(e)s auront
accès aux espaces de production du Rustines | Lab et à l'équipement
suivant:
- Projecteur
- Enceintes sonores
- Mixeur
- Dimmer Box DMX
- Equipements de l'atelier électronique + quincaillerie

*Café, beignes et pizza seront offerts.

Cet évènement est organisé dans le cadre de la 1ère édition du
Festival Pixel Libre 0.1, qui se veut devenir un festival annuel dont
la programmation accroîtra au fur et à mesure des années. Pour cette
édition, Pixel Libre se produit sur le thème du Processus Ouvert, en
partenariat avec Perte de Signal, le festival HTMlles organisé par
Studio XX et Eastern Bloc. Pixel libre est le premier festival
international des cultures du libre à Montréal. Il se veut un espace
rassembleur et soutient le partage de la connaissance,
l’autonomisation technologique et la liberté de création. Les cultures
du libre proviennent du mouvement "open source" entamé dans les années
80 par la Free Software Foundation, mais leurs racines puisent aussi
dans le mouvement plus global du “do it yourself" (DIY), ainsi que des
"arts and crafts".
