An Open-Source Platform for Interaction Design in Neuro-Music Research

This work stems directly from difficulty in finding a
functional, stable, accurate, safe and affordable platform for
neuroelectric research - primarily using EEG - for measurement,
analysis and sonification in controlled experiments.

Requirements: - open-source - inexpensive - safe - accurate and
precise - robust and reliable

It is now possible to assemble a completely open-source hardware and
software solution which can meet the basic needs of Neuro-Music
researchers working with EEG. The advantage of the system being open
source is threefold: 1. easy to extend via available free and
open-source software 2. easy to modify funtionality as needed (given
certain programming skills) 3. inexpensive hardware and free software
The current (entirely open-source, hardware and software) component
parts of the system I am building are: Hardware (developed by Bernd
Porr at the Universities of Stirling and Glasgow) USB-DUX -
open-source hardware Data Acquisition device Biosignal amplifier -
similar to standard instrumentation amplifiers as used in much
biosignal measurement Software: Comedi - open-source DAQ driver
software Pure Data - a programming environment using dataflow paradigm
similar to LabView SuperCollider - text-based audio programming tool,
excellent for data sonfication Protocols: OpenSound Control (OSC) - a
real-time data transmission protocol particularly optimised for Local
Area Networks over Ethernet

*Communauté Pure Data de São Paulo et prochaine convention Pd 2009

faite à São Paulo auprès de la communauté PureData du Brésil.
Il présentera aussi les derniers développements concernant la prochaine
convention PureData qui se tiendrait possiblement à São Paulo en 2009.
