LE LABORATOIRE D'ART (LE LABO) accueille SHARE-MONTRÉAL (SHARE MTL)  
pour une soirée  inédite de performances multimédias en directe  
qu'ils organisent ensemble dans le cadre de la Scotiabank Nuit  
Blanche 2007 de Toronto et qui se poursuivra  toute la nuit le 29  
septembre 7:00 pm au 30 septembre 7:00 am.

Des membres du LABO et de SHARE MTL participeront durant toute la  
nuit à des performances en collaboration avec des artistes sonores de  
la série AMBiENT PiNG, série musicale torontoise de longue date,  
ainsi qu’avec des artistes de Montréal et des communautés locales.  
Ce projet se développe dans la tradition du happening, tout en
renouvellant sa signification dans un environnement technologique.

Tous les artistes impliqués dans la création en arts médiatiques et  
interactifs et du direct sont invités à participer.

Les événements SHARE sont des performances d’improvisation et   
d’expérimentation en direct et collectives regroupant les artistes  
de l’audio (numérique ou acoustique), des nouveaux médias, de la   
vidéo, de la performance, de la danse et tout artiste qui  
s’intéresse aux arts numériques ou interactifs. Par nos «   
happenings », nous soutenons la transgression de toutes les  
frontières et limites artistiques. Les événements SHARE sont des  
moments privilégiés de rencontre et de partage d’informations  
entre les artistes qui favorisent la collaboration. Les spectateurs  
peuvent ainsi assister à un processus de création spontané.

PARTICIPATION :

Chaque artiste pourra participer au jam pendant au moins 30 minutes  
(et plus, dépendant du nombre de participants). Apportez vos  
portables et vos câbles (XLR ou1/8 ou1/4 pour l'audio, RCA ou SVIDEO  
pour le video), capteurs, synthétiseurs, caméras ou toute interface  
numérique propice au partage de signal. Branchez vos appareils à nos  
mixeurs vidéo et audio et improvisez avec les autres artistes  
présents. Un écran de captation éclairé pour le « keying » et  
le « motion tracking » sera également disponible sur place pour les  
expérimentations danses / mouvement.

Inscrivez-vous au jam par courriel et veuillez nous indiquer dans  
quelle catégorie musicale vous aimeriez participer [Ambient,  
expérimental, IDM, noise, beat] et donnez-nous une petite description  
de votre type de pratique artistique. Aussi, laissez-nous savoir vos  
disponibilités (au cas où vous jouez autre part le même soir).  
Premiers arrivés, premiers  servis !

Nous communiquerons avec vous et vous assignerons une plage horaire  
de 30 minutes (minimum) entre 7:00 pm et 7:00 am le 29 septembre.   
Dépendamment du nombre d'artistes, vous pourrez jouer plusieurs fois   
durant la soirée si possible..

Le LABORATOIRE d'ART (LE LABO) en contexte

Organisme artistique de l'Ontario français à part entière depuis  
son incorporation en mai 2006, Le LABORATOIRE d'art (le LABO) répond  
aux besoins pressants des artistes médiatiques et visuels  
francophones. Sa création remonte à l'année 2003 étant alors  
géré en collaboration avec BRAVO-sud. Il s'agit avant tout d'un  
espace de création et de recherche mettant à la disposition des  
artistes des outils tangibles de production et des occasions de  
formation dans le domaine des nouveaux médias et des médias  
intégrés. C'est également un lieu de collaboration  
interdisciplinaire engendrant la création d'oeuvres hybrides ainsi  
qu'un lieu de diffusion qui permet de présenter certaines des oeuvres  
qui y sont réalisées et de proposer des programmes et conférences  
artistiques variés liés aux nouveaux médias.

Le LABORATOIRE D'ART est porté par le désir de création et de  
formation qu'ont les artistes et ils y investissent une énergie sans  
bornes. Le LABO a déjà établi de solides relations auprès de  
certains bailleurs de fonds ce qui lui a permis de louer et de  
rénover un lieu unique au coeur du complexe culturel de la  
Distillerie, d'acquérir des équipements, de lancer une programmation  
artistique et de formation et d'embaucher une personne pour s'occuper  
de la gestion et de l'administration.

Maintenant bien connu du monde médiatique francophone du sud de  
l'Ontario et de la communauté francophone (y compris associative)  
torontoise, LE LABORATOIRE D'ART compte plus de 45 membres, artistes  
professionnels aux pratiques très variées qui ont tous et toutes en  
commun le besoin et le désir de travailler ensemble dans leur langue  
et leur culture.

LE LABORATOIRE D'ART (LE LABO)  welcomes SHARE MONTRÉAL (SHARE MTL)  
for an all-night live media arts and sound event they’re organising  
together during the city-wide Scotiabank Nuit Blanche 2007. The  
event, called SHARE-LABO, starts at 7pm September 29 and runs through  
to 7am the next morning. The presentation follows a new open jam  
formula called SHARE. Participants improvise with each other's  
signals, movements and voice in real time video and audio to create  
unique multimedia  performances.

All artists who experiment with live media arts are invited to  
participate. SHARE is an opportunity to jam with like-minded creative  
individuals from the digital arts scene. Participants from video,  
audio or performance practices bring their equipment, laptops and  
cables, plug into the sound system or projectors and improvise live  
together.

Members of LE LABO and of SHARE Montréal will participate in the all-  
night performances with artists from the long-running AMBiENT PiNG  
series and artists from the Montréal and local communities.This  
project is developed within the tradition of happenings, renewing  
their meaning in a technological environment.

PARTICIPATION :

Each artist will be able to perform in the jam for at least 30  
minutes (and more depending on the number of  participants). Bring  
your laptop, sensors, synthesizers or any other  digital interface  
that can be used to share signals. Plug your gear  into our audio and  
video mixing boards and be a part of the experiment with the other  
artists and creative participants. Audio &  video cables to bring :  
XLR or1/8 or1/4 (audio), RCA or SVIDEO  (video). We will also offer a  
backlit screen for «keying » and « motion tracking » to capture  
movements or dancers on site.

Email us your interest in being part of the jam and let us know which  
musical category you’d like to participate in [Ambient,  
experimental, IDM, noise, beat] and give us a short description of  
your art practice. Also, let us know your availabilities (if you have  
other shows booked that night). First come, first served!

We will contact you and schedule you a 30 minutes (minimum) slot  
between 7:00 pm September 29 and 7:00 am September 30. Depending on  
the number of artists paricipating, you  could play more than once.

production, training and outreach and represents video, film, visual,  
performance and sound artists. Its mandate is to encourage  
experimentation and collaboration between multidisciplinary artists.  
LE LABO is currently the only francophone production center in  
Ontario for artists working in new media and technology.
