Vidéographe Production (PARC), 2 mars 2006
English version follows.

valeurs rouge/vert/bleu.*

------------------------------------------

 *Vidéographe Production invites you to a "5 à 7", March 9, 2006, *

*for the launch of the GEM-GridFlow image converter programmed by Mathieu
Bouchard*

Pure Data (aka PD) is a real-time graphical programming environment for
audio, video, and graphical processing. It is the third major branch of the
family of patcher programming languages known as Max (Max/FTS, ISPW Max,
Max/MSP, jMax, etc.). The core of PD is written and maintained by Miller
Puckette and includes the work of many developers, making the whole package
very much a community effort. PD is open source and free software.

PD's audio functions are built-in but graphical computations require the use
of separate externals (plug-ins) as GEM and GridFlow. These externals were
previously incompatible with each other: an image converter between GEM and
GridFlow has just been programmed, with the support of PARC, by Mathieu
Bouchard, a digital art engineer living in Montreal, and will be presented
during this launch. PARC is the new media laboratory of Vidéographe and,
with this initiative, promotes the open source alternative.

*GEM, programmed in 1997 by Mark Danks and presently developed by Chris
Clepper, James Tittle, Johannes Zmölnig and others collaborators, uses the
3D processor of the graphic card to render images.*

*GridFlow, programmed by Mathieu Bouchard in 2001, offers a more extended
support for the computation of images as grids (also known as
multi-dimensional arrays) containing *RGB values.

The* *GEM-GridFlow converter takes the form of two new PD object classes:

*#export_pix* and *#import_pix*

*The image converter will also be presented at the next Pure Data Montreal
meeting, March 11th 2006 from 13h00 to 17h00 at Vidéographe Production,
4550, Garnier street, Montreal.*
