Benoit,

I would suggest taking at least 8 images.  More images mean more common points of reference, so you will get a more precise final model.

Artec has some good software, as does XYGRGB and David Vision Systems.  

Check out 123DAPP for some 3D software (Design, Catch and MeshMixer I think), along with the free download of netFabb Basic.

Does anybody ever try to take around 4 3d images with a kinect and try to *reconstruct* them together with meshlab or any other software ?  Any help will be appreciated...
