That's a good point.  If you increased the voltage from 5V to 15V, you
could put 7 leds in series with a single 91 ohm resistor and reduce current
comsumption by 1/7 or around 1A.  This would also reduce heat produced from
7x5=35W to 1.134 x 15 = 17W, making the whole thing much cooler too.

7*1.6=11.2 (combined forward voltage drop for 7 LEDs in series at 1.6V
each).
15-11.2= 3.8 (voltage across the resistor)
3.8/91=0.042A (current through each resistor / each LED)
188/7=27 (resistors / branches required - you would actually end up with
189 LEDs since 27*7=189)
0.042*27=1.134A (total current required)
1.134 * 15 = 17W (total power)
