[Lab] Laser Work Area

Hey, it's been a while since I've made it into modlab. I have a laser
project I'm designing. I'm just curious, what's the usable work size (max
actual cutting area) of the laser at the lab? I know it's a Zing 24 which
quotes 24x12, but is that actual usable space?

Also does anyone know a good (affordable) source for acrylic? (preferably
pre-cut to sizes usable by the laser) :)
