[Lab] Questions: 1) DIY PCB etching and 2) O-scope in lab?

Relating to all this, would someone be able to do a modlab workshop on
circuit (schematic) capture and PCB layout using open source tools?  I'd
find that extremely useful.  I've tried a few, but I keep going back to
paper to draw up schematics.
