[Lab] Laser machine fumes

Hi,
I've been warned that cutting plastics on a laser engraver REALLY stinks!  I wonder if we should do some sort of test before we kill everyone in the lab.
Also, we do need to ban PVC (produces hydrochloric acid byproduct that is both bad for machine and probably the mice in the lab).
Some facilities have banned any plastic cutting altogether.  Any volunteers to run a test?
