[Lab] buying a 3d printer

The RepRap, Makerbot, and Ultimaker can all use similar software yes...
Basically Skeinforge for slicing, and either reprap host for the repraps, or
ReplicatorG for any of them (RepG works on repraps too it's what I use on
mine) The ultimaker also has an option to buy a professional software
package for it which improves print quality and ease of use a bit apparently
(from what they say) for like $300.
And the UP comes with it's own (windows only) software which is free and
very easy to use.
