A lot of folk use
http://openscad.org/
for their works, along with:
http://narocad.com/
and
http://www.heeks.net/
They're not in the same class as Solidworks, of course.
You won't find professional engineers using them for major projects,
but RepRappers still find them useful for stuff. (professional
engineers included.)
Prusa-Mendel, for example, was done up in openscad.
