so, why would you want it to work without a computer, and especially, why

that's just a question. at Vidéographe they only have analogue 
oscilloscopes. their computer-pluggable devices are sampling at much lower 
frequencies : they have a Kroonde, a Multio (which belongs to me), some 
Arduinos and some soundcards.
