[Lab] windPOV project

Ya, it looks much better in real, even it looks good on my camera but it seems that youtube is dropping frames...
In the vid, the bottom half is obscured by the fan...

I've got it mounted and it's now displaying temperature and humidity...
When it gets a bit darker tonight I'll take some pics on long shutter and get some vid.. .

I'm thinking about building a bigger one, with a rechargeable battery to keep it running when it's not windy...
Prolly with an RTC for time, maybe some other sensors...

Looking good! I assume it comes out clearer in real life as opposed to the vid.

Looking forward to seeing more updates.

ao.

Hey...

I've just uploaded a video to youtube of the WindPOV ...
I haven't got the sensor code running yet but everything else is working...
It seems that the SHT21 follows the actual I2C spec as opposed to the older SHT11 which is somewhat proprietary in it's interface.

There is an Arduino library for the SHT21 which should be easy to port... However, it's a bit slow to test as I have not included serial or LCD on this board...

You can see the video at youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CJ89A6P1ULQ

Or on my website... http://krazatchu.ca/?page_id=198

It's currently displaying my name until I get the temp & humidity sensor code going...

It's funny that you mention that! I just got my hands on several
steppers and the first thing I did was make a rectifier and power some
LEDs. Just a tip. you can cut the number of diodes you use in half by
pairing pins 1&3 and 2&4 on the same bridge because they are
both the same polarity at the same time I believe... One more
question... is that a hall effect sensor on there?

Hey peoples...

For the last day and half I've been working on a wind turbine powered
weather station using an 8 bit/LED POV on the spinning blades for the
display...

I'm trying to one up the neighbors solar LEDs.. lol

The stepper being used as a generator is mounted to the blades and the
shaft is held stationary to negate the need for slip rings...

I have the hardware built and am currently working on the code. The
entire system is running under 5 volts (3.5v) which is a first for me...

The project is semi-written up on my site here http://krazatchu.ca/?page_id=198

I will add the code and eagle files once it's finished...

Let me know what you think...

Michael
