MONAHAN is a national award-winning permanent public art piece in Ottawa’s Kanata South. It was commissioned by the City of Ottawa’s Public Art Program as part of the City’s per cent for art policy.
Laura Taler is a Romanian-born, award-winning artist, filmmaker, choreographer, and performer with a 30-year career in collaborative art practices. Her experience with public art ranges from large-scale performance works, to projections and screen-based works, to permanent installations. She skillfully integrates mediums, pushes boundaries, and uses technology simply and innovatively. Since the beginning of her career Laura has worked collaboratively as the director of a team of artists and technicians. She provides a clear vision to the team gathered around each project and guides that vision with precision and flexibility.
Artengine’s TouchDesigner club is putting together a showcase the collaborative work we have been up to! Mark your calendars Septmeber 26th 2026 @artengine
Artengine acknowledges that we are located on the traditional, unceded, and unsurrendered territory of the Anishinàbe Algonquin Nation.
Artengine is thrilled to announce that we have been selected as a recipient of the Ottawa 200 Grant for our project, 200 Stories Rising.
Selected through a peer-assessment process, 200 Stories Rising is a mentorship-based media arts residency supporting emerging artists to create large-scale public projections. The project is one of many funded initiatives taking place throughout 2026 as part of Ottawa’s bicentennial celebrations, with a commitment to providing free and inclusive public experiences for all.
We are delighted to have been recognized through this process and are excited to be partnering with Urban Art Collective as we bring this vision to life.
Stay tuned for more updates as 200 Stories Rising takes shape across the city.
