The CCB was established by the City of Ottawa in 2028. Three salaried hosts, selected through public process and granted full editorial independence, are charged with one task: pay attention to what is happening here, and help the rest of us understand it.
The CCB emerged from a simple observation: Ottawa's cultural life was rich, distributed, and largely invisible to itself. Artists were working in Vanier, in Orléans, in Hintonburg and Centretown — doing extraordinary things that most of the city never heard about.
The mandate has not changed since 2028. Look at what is being made here. Share it honestly. Trust the audience to care.
The CCB does not produce content for national platforms or international audiences. It produces content for Ottawa, about Ottawa, by people who live and work here.
Seven subsidized printing centres operate across Ottawa's boroughs. Bring your files. Walk in. Print your posters, your zines, your pamphlets. The cost is covered by the city. The only requirement is that you show up.

The City of Ottawa offers twenty two-year living wage grants to artists working in any discipline. This is not project funding. There is no deliverable. The grant is a salary. The expectation is that you continue to be an artist, here, in this city.
Selection is made by a council of six cultural practitioners, chosen through public process. Deliberations are private. The final statement — naming the recipients and explaining the choices — is read aloud at a public ceremony attended by all applicants.
Applications are open to any artist residing in Ottawa or the Outaouais region. There is no discipline restriction. There is no career stage restriction.
Cycle 2050–52 — Applications open until March 31, 2050
