Focusing on the work of artists who have examined what new media artist Norman White has called the “living effect,” this exhibition pays homage to the forces that exist in living creatures. Situated within the threshold of art and science, the selected artworks – whether produced in traditional media (photography, cast bronze) or new media (interactive sculpture, sensory environments) – approach what it means to be alive in unique and inventive ways.
The vernissage for Thelivingeffect is a collaboration between Electric Fields and The Ottawa Art Gallery. It marks the official opening of the festival and the audience will be able to explore the other installations through out the Arts Court facility opening alongside this show.
