Course description:

The objective of this course is to give a comprehensive overview of the
conception and realization of interactive musical systems created  
with open
source software.  Open to composers and performers this course will be
organized around Pure Data (PD) tutorials and lab sessions and the  
musical
analysis of compositions incorporating technology.  Classes will  
consist of a
combination of lectures, hands-on tutorials and practice sessions of
instrumental and/or vocal performance techniques with electronics.
Topics to be addressed include but are not limited to score-following,
gestural analysis, real-time synthesis and soundtransformation/ 
manipulation...
According to their level participants can choose to be introduced to  
these
tools or go deeper with them.

Other topics include exploring and analyzing works with electronics by
presenting the synthesis ofall technical and musical aspects of them.

As a final project for the course, composers and performers are  
encouraged to
create a composition or improvisational environment using PD or learn  
and
perform a contemporary work utilizing electronics. A concert of  
participants'
work will be held at the final class.
