<div dir="ltr">Hi Britta.<div><br></div><div>I've been using <a href="http://VoIP.ms">http://VoIP.ms</a> with several different voip devices like soft phones, IP phones, and gateway devices.<div><br></div><div>When you refer to a "modem", are you talking about a little box that allows you to plug your regular (POTS - plain old telephone system) phone into it and connect it to the network? If so, that's a VoIP gateway or ATA device and you should be able to simply plug it into the LAN port of your router (try it at home!) and it should work provided that your internet router is configured (automatically or manually) to allow traffic to/from it on the correct ports. Or if you are talking about the "modem" being the box from Roger's, then that is probably a combo modem & router box so configuring the router to forward some ports might be necessary (5060 & 5061 + possibly some others). Just plug your VoIP phone into the network and try it first. There is usually a NAT setting in the phone or gateway that is important to enable. But that is probably already enabled if it was working behind your Bell modem/router combo box.</div>
<div><br></div><div>Either way, your VoIP provider should not care where your device is logging in from. The only connectivity problems I would expect would be related to the router firewall settings. Best plan is to ask unlimited if it doesn't work off the bat. I bet they will have plenty of customers on Rogers and be able to walk you through the specifics for your router model.<br>
