<div dir="ltr">As you can see in my Web site the weekend fund raiser was hugely successful.<div><br></div><div>I now have time to make the light systems!</div><div><br></div><div>I've got a coupe of arduino's on hand (and lots of LEDs).</div>
<div><br></div><div>Henri has a couple of teensy's I will buy off him to give a try. </div><div><br></div><div>Anybody have any materials for a few Throwies? That might be something to try as well. I'm supposing I might needs some heavier batteries though... and a resistor or something...</div>

<div dir="ltr"><div class="gmail_extra"><div><div dir="ltr"><div><br></div><div>There is now a downloadable template for 10", 14" and 24" lanterns. There's also a sketchup tutorial if you want to make your own size. So you make 5 parts on the laser, slap them together and stick tissue on it and presto, it's a Parol Lantern.</div>
<div><br></div><div>There is event this weekend and I am wanting to bring some kits to sell and then give the proceeds to the cause. I am making some 14" kits for (You can see the details of the charity at <a href="http://inventorartist.com/philippines-christmas-parol-lantern/" target="_blank">http://inventorartist.com/philippines-christmas-parol-lantern/</a> but it's 50,000 clean up kits, 30,000 shelter kits and 10,000 homes.<br>
</div><div><br></div><div><b>If anybody would like to come and help</b> me operated the laser that would be cool since I need breaks and stuff.</div><div><br></div><div>Also I'm low on the single corrugated cardboard (that's the kind that's two layers of paper and one layer of corrugation). If anybody has any and can get it to the lab (M70/M76) that would be cool.</div>
<div><br></div><div>I am wanting to make up some arduino and other lighting systems but that's a bit delayed as I am making the kits. I will get to that next week (ideas welcome). That part isn't really necessary for the charity.</div>

<div dir="ltr"><div><div dir="ltr"><div><div><br></div></div><div>I know a lot of people from the Philippines and am aware that this is a tricky time for them with the recent storm. Don't forget the Philippines sends foreign workers all over the world so the losses and disruption are not focused just in the storm area. They are distributed families and home sickness can come forward at times like this.</div>
<div><br></div><div>So I figured it would be fun to shift the focus a bit by making some "traditional" Philippines Christmas Lanterns. </div><div><br></div><div>1) For anyone in the laser room M76, that little stack of cardboard is mine. It's labeled but I just wanted to make sure as I'm using it for this project. You are welcome to use it if you want to make a Parol Lantern though. </div>
<div><br></div><div>2) I am using cardboard to make them rather than the traditional bamboo strips. So it's easy for anyone to download the template and cook them up.</div><div><br></div><div>I'd like to invite people to make them. It's pretty fun and when Filipinos see it it will make them happy. I've been transporting them on the street and they often come forward laughing when they see it.</div>
<div><br></div><div>So please make one and hang it in your front window. </div><div><br></div><div>3) I've got the basic design working well and am now going to <b>add light</b>. I think this is a chance to bring in Arduino and other forms of blinky light control.<b> Ideas are welcome!</b></div>
