<div dir="ltr">It seems like a better priced option than other extruders that have been made available.<div><br></div><div>I'm not sure how useful it would be for the lab printers currently. They don't have tolerance specs on what their 3mm filament will be at, and it seems to only make ABS, not PLA.</div>
<div><br></div><div>I think an ideal lab filament extruder would be able to make ABS or PLA in either 1.75mm or 3mm diameters. This would make it extremely useful for both the lab and most members.</div><div><br></div><div>
The ExtrusionBot is a successful Kickstarter campaign which promises all of that but its a bit pricey ($625US I think, and no kits, and they aren't even shipping right now).</div><div><br></div><div>I think the newer version of the Lyman extruder can do PLA in theory, but no guarantees as to what the tolerance would be.</div>
<div><br></div><div>I think the lab having one would be a good concept though. We would be able to make very funky colour combinations. And colouring it yourself means you know if the colourant is safe.</div><div><br></div>
