<p>After such amazing support for the 2010 edition of Electric Fields, Artengine couldn't wait two whole years to host another festival, so we are back this fall with another one!</p>
<p>This Electric Fields is different. Focused on the relationship between sound and space, Artengine is producing a number of projects that engage with specific spaces around the city. While our 2010 festival transported you to another place through over-the-top audio-visual performances and larger than life installations, this EF is grounded here - in a public pool; a basilica church; civil service buildings; iconic national architecture. Electric Fields will use your ears to redefine your perception of the spaces around you.</p>

<p>Montréal's Antoine Bédard (Montag) is producing a narrated walking experience that guides you through the architecture of downtown Ottawa. 12 local composers and musical groups have translated key buildings on the walk into new pieces of music that together create a sonic portrait of the core of the capital.</p>

<p>St-Brigid's Centre for the Arts will provide more than a venue for Church Music, the basilica structure will become a performer for the event. Roger Tellier-Craig (ex-God Speed! You Black Emperor, Fly Pan Am), Georges Forget and Jean François Laporte will explore the deep reverberation of the building in an immersive sonic experience.</p>

<p>This creative collaboration between composer Jesse Stewart, architect Adrian Blackwell and new media artist Rob Cruickshank will take place at the historic Champagne Baths. Engaging with the sonic environment of the public pool facility this experiment will certainly not be your average free swim.</p>

<p>A space is more than just a building, and you cannot talk about space without considering the role of culture in shaping it. A Tribe Called Red have been building a new cultural space in the nations capital for a several years with their Electric Pow Wow parties. On the surface is original dance music that brings people together for a great time. Below is a motivation to create a cultural space for the urban aboriginal that is authentic and progressive. For this special edition of the Electric Pow Wow, the ATCR crew will integrate traditional singing into their performance and re-organize the dance floor in a special location, rich with its own spacial history.</p>

<h2>About EF</h2>
<p>Started in 2003 at Galerie SAW Gallery by Jason St-Laurent and Tam-Ca Vo-Van as a spotlight on electro-acoustic and audio-visual performance and installation, the biennial event moved to SAW Video and evolved to focus on local, national and international music and media artists with a increasing technological engagement in their work.</p>
<p>In 2008, Artengine took over the project and produced a third edition, expanding the reach of the festivals programming, while fostering stronger networks between new media artists in and outside the capital region.</p>
<p>As a deeper engagement with technological expression winds through many forms of creative expression, so expands the collaborations at the heart of the festival. From the Canadian Film Institute to The Ottawa Art Gallery to local music promoters the festival weaves a thread through the creative fabric of the city and we pulls it together into a concentrated week of electric events.</p>
