<div><div><div>Looks pretty nice. I tried it on my laptop (<a href="http://mambohead.com/2011/05/autodesk-supports-makers/">http://mambohead.com/2011/05/autodesk-supports-makers/</a>)</div><div><br></div><div>Didn't work since it's a couple years old. </div>
<div><br></div><div>I may try it on a desktop. Or wait till I buy another laptop (I've got three now that are all working so that might be six months minimum). </div><div><br></div><div>Anybody use it to make stuff yet?</div>

I tweeted about this app a little while ago (I believe in response to Andrew Plumb who tweeted it before me if I'm not mistaken). It actually looks like a fantastic app, I've played with it a bit, just to feel it out. Adds a lot of capability that sketchup is missing for more advanced projects. At the cost of a little bit more complexity (but it's still fairly easy to use).<div>
<br></div><div>It is definitely targeted at makers, it already plays nice with 3D Printers and CNC quite well, without 3rd party plugins to worry about to get things done.</div><div><br></div><div>Will be interesting to see where they go with this one!</div>

<br><br>All,<br><br>It looks like Autodesk went a little maker-crazy and designed a free software tool specifically for us! It's based off of Autodesk Inventor and looks to have a lot of surface modeling components to it in addition to solid modeling ability. It also has resources for acquiring community-made models, and services for 3D printing or lasercutting your models - it looks like they might even have a part of the program devoted to doing things like cut your model up to be assembled out of lasercut pieces. But.. I infer this from the picture on their splash page.<br>
<br>Regardless, feast your eyes!<br><br><a href="http://www.123dapp.com/" target="_blank">http://www.123dapp.com/</a><br><br>I'd like to sit down with it and get comfortable, and maybe teach a class at the Asylum in it.<br>
