I tried gEDA years ago and (like many linux open source solutions, unfortunately) ended up spending most of my time trying to get it to work and not designing boards :/.<br><br>YMMV though, I've heard some people (like Evil Mad Scientist labs) use it to great extent.<br>

I'd recommend Eagle, though the freeware version has a limited board<br>
size (3 x 4" I believe) so it depends on your board size.<br>
