Hate to be an iPad salesman too but the battery life on the device is around 10 hours of constant use. There are some awesome art programs on it as well- Sketchbook Pro and Adobe Ideas. It can also sync with Dropbox for cloud file storage and access.
Andrew,
Other than the video editing and animation, I'd consider getting a low powered, long battery life
netbook like tablet. There is a wave of Android based units coming down the chute from ASUS,
Samsung, Dell, and Motorola.
I'm waiting to see the Asus Eee Pad. I'm actually becoming quite a fan of their Eee series with
their long battery life in their netbooks. If you can hack b/w, they have something
that they call the Eee Tablet that is more akin to a Kindle but has a very high resolution
stylus based touchscreen that is setup for drawing.
I bicycle just about anywhere, year around and going light is a real bonus.
I also have found putting my netbook in a $12 MEC drysack is extra insurance. MEC has a small
one that fits well. My panniers leak and sometimes so does my water bottle.
Hi Andrew,

I hate to be a salesman for them but the iPad does all that I think. Maybe a laptop with a tablet?
Hi all,

This is my first post, so please forgive me if this isn't getting to the right place, or seems off-topic.

I'm looking for tablet-style computer on which to do digital painting, and most likely animation, video editing, and maybe even email etc (most importantly, though, digital painting). I've looked at Tablet PC's, modbooks, and cintiqs, but am unable to make a decision, as I really have no expierience with these things. Portability is important, as I'll be biking around with the thing, and would want to be able to produce studies on the spot. Any advice?
