Workshop
@ Carleton University; March 4, 2017

Join Carleton University’s Azrieli School of Architecture & Urbanism for a
one-day introduction to 3D laser scanning workshop. Through practical
demonstration and individual hands-on participation, you will be exposed to
the current tools and techniques available in digital documentation. We
will cover the basics of 3D scanning including scanner setup, user
interface, target placement, and site evaluation, as well as, scan viewing,
registration, filtering, and export options for external digital
applications. The workshop will include an onsite scanning exercise. In
addition, the group will examine contrasting case studies using scans,
models and CAD drawings of historic sites. This workshop is suitable for
anyone interested in 3D laser scanning – no prior experience required!

This course will be taught by Ken Percy, who for the last five years, has
been leading research in digital documentation at the Carleton Immersive
Media Studio, a Carleton University Research Centre dedicated to the
advanced study of innovative, hybrid forms of architectural representation.
