[Lab] pragmatically light a lighter

so I am looking for a way to start a flame or 3/4 inch long with
methane gas so pretty much a lighter. I want to test the flammability
of fabric.  I would need a way to start and stop a flame for a given
period of time.  Also,  I wouldn't be able to move the lighter.  I
know there are some good tinkers here  so Any thoughts?  oh and it
would need to be fairly cheap
