Social Measures relating to Drug Control in South Asia

BANGLADESH
Penal Sanctions related to social measures:
In 1991, courts applied measures of treatment, education, after-care, rehabilitation or social reintegration for a drug-related offence neither as an alternative nor in addition to conviction or punishment.

Other social measures:
The beginning of the United Nations Decade against Drug Abuse was formally celebrated by the Acting President and with the release of a set of commemorative stamps. Furthermore, stickers, posters were distributed by the Department of Narcotics Control with the aim to increase awareness of the harmfulness of drugs.
