Christos Pantieras

Christos Pantieras is a mixed media and installation artist. His works are informed by his Hellenic upbringing, with themes of identity, memory, transition and communication addressed throughout his work. His materials of preference are those with nostalgic undertones and some form of connection to his personal experiences. These materials have included: matte photo frames (circa 1960's) from family celebrations, tattered hand-written letters, envelopes, wicks, trunks, suitcases, weathered timber and furniture, wall burnings from lit candles, repurposed electronic communication, and reformed wax from the Greek Orthodox Church.

Born in Ottawa (Ontario) in 1973, Christos Pantieras holds a Bachelors of Fine Arts (1996) and a Bachelors of Education (1998) from the University of Ottawa. Select exhibition locations include: Modern Fuel ARC (Kingston), Karsh-Masson Gallery (Ottawa), Art-Image (Gatineau), and Axe Néo-7 (Hull).
