CANADIAN TENOR Returns to the Stage in Ottawa
One-Night Only Performance at Shenkman Arts Centre
Monday, December 18, 2017
After 10 years with The Tenors, Juno Award winning multi-platinum selling recording artist Remigio Pereira returns to the stage for his first solo performance in hometown Ottawa since the fallout at the Major League Baseball (MLB) All Star Game last year. He will be performing on December 18, 2017 at 8:00 p.m. for one-night only – Remigio in Concert - at Shenkman Arts Centre.
Presently in the studio completing his full-length solo record Vox Inaudito, Remigio's first single I Did it For Peace speaks to the motivation behind the controversial stance in changing the French lyric to include all life at the MLB All-Star game. Remigio, a vegan, is actively involved in helping to better the lives of all. The lyric change consequently had him fired from the band.
Remigio’s philanthropic activities over the years serve as a testament to his dedication to those in need. He helped raise 3.2 million dollars for orphan care in Bulembu in the HIV-stricken country of Swaziland. He also travelled to Kenya several times and built schools with Free The Children, and subsequently wrote an anthem performed at We Day called Free The Children to raise global awareness and stop child exploitation.
As founding member of the internationally acclaimed Canadian group The Tenors, Remigio has travelled the world performing for Royalty and Heads of State, and to date has sold over a million records world-wide. Since parting with the band, Remigio has released a moving rendition of John Lennon's classic “War is Over” as well as produced “Seven Days In Santorini”, a DVD of music videos highlighting his chart- topping instrumental album Guitarradas with Mediterranean guitar virtuoso Pavlo.
Remigio’s distinctive and powerful tenor is among the most immediately familiar voices in classical crossover music today.
