Thursday, September 12, 6:30pm to 9:30pm
Wallack Galleries, 231 Bank Street, Ottawa, ON
Come join us for an evening of guided life drawing in the beautiful Wallack Galleries as we count down the days to the Figureworks Call for Artists deadline. Everyone is welcome to attend no matter what your skill level.
Kathrine McNenly, one of Canada’s most accomplished portrait artists, past Figureworks finalist and instructor, will be on hand to provide some guidance. A great opportunity to learn from a wonderful teacher.
The evening will be presented in two parts: short poses in the first half (instructed by Katherine McNenly) and a longer pose in the second half. We have engaged 2 models for this occasion who will undertake nude poses.
The Wallack Galleries space has chairs, easels, point lighting, and gentle music. Bring your favorite materials; drawing, painting, and sculpture are fine choices. Discounted drawing kits can be purchased at the Wallack’s, a discount code will be provided upon registration.
We will also have a bar where non-alcoholic drinks will be available for purchase.

The call for submissions to the 10th annual juried Figureworks Prize and award show is now open. Figureworks is a celebration of the art of the human form, held in Canada’s capital, Ottawa. Each year, we come together to celebrate the human figure through the Figureworks Prize. The call is open to all living artists, in Canada and internationally, working in all media who wish to submit recent works that represent the human form or parts thereof. Entry fees go directly to operational costs and prize money. The total prize value in 2018 was $7,000.
The 2019 show will be juried by Michael Davidge, Andrew Morrow and Joanne Stober.
Our mission at Figureworks is to cultivate the creation and exhibition of art of the human form. We do this by providing an excellent opportunity to exhibit artwork of the human form and receive a significant cash prize. We are a volunteer-based not-for-profit organization. Entry fees and sponsorship go directly to operational costs and prize money. We don’t take any commissions on sales at the Figureworks exhibition — all the money goes directly to the artists.
Artists may submit their entry online through the Figureworks website, http://www.figureworks.org
The submission deadline is September 30, 2019.
Please note that we do have a reduced submission fee for students.
