Barbara Ellen Cuerden

Born in England in 1956, Barbara studied art at the University of Ottawa and received degrees, cum laude, in visual arts and fine arts in 1984 and 1987. Since then she has shown her work in solo and group exhibitions in both public and private galleries.

Barbara has worked as a scenic painter and muralist for national and local theatre groups, at the Canadian Museum of Civilization, the Museum of Nature, and for commercial design firms.

She has received awards from many arts organizations and granting agencies; most recently a Project Grant from the City of Ottawa, and a Canada Council Millennium Fund grant. Barbara lives in Sandyhill, Ottawa, and works out of her studio on a full time basis.*
